A commitment to training and skills plays a key role in Groundwork in Derby and Derbyshire's regeneration activities. Today we find that a lot of traditional heavy industry in our area is no more and there is now an urgent need for individuals to reskill. The jobs market place also needs young people to be entering it with 'job ready' skills intact and with a healthy commitment to work and working.

"The jobs market today requires people who are both flexible and commited in their approach to working and learning new skills. In the Learning & Work Team we focus on teaching our trainees both skills and a good attitude to working. We think that our inclusive approach to training, with the fact that we pay a real wage, is a real contributor to our success and, most importantly helps our trainees by boosting their own sense of self-worth."
