The “ilab: creative & media virtual college” is a great new product from Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire and its media production unit, the Imagination Lab.

Based at our Groundwork Toolbox facility in Somercotes, the “ilab” is a teaching resource, or ‘virtual college' as we call it; specialising in delivering accredited and non-accredited training and education in a whole range of digital and media skills. Training is delivered from our recently upgraded high-standard computer suite, which is capable of taking sessions in digital photography through to video editing. We also have a digital recording studio on-site as well.

We are currently able to deliver a wide range of OCN accredited courses, as well as one-off ‘taster' sessions. Our current list of courses is as follows. Click the course name to follow the link for a PDF with details of the course:

We have found that our digital media courses are ideal for engaging 14-19 year old learners and can cover a lot of different skills and abilities, hence it is particularly popular for the ‘alternative curriculum' and relevant to the ‘every child matters' agenda. We are also able to write OCN courses, or create bespoke sessions. To find out more, either call us on the number above, or email helen.dyke@groundwork.org.uk
