LOCAL HEALTH WALKS"Working with communities to deliver projects which will positively benefit their mental and physical well-being"Groundwork's commitment to the communities we work with in Derby & Derbyshire is unquestionable. Our view of the environment is very much a holistic one, where we see a healthy environment and a healthy lifestyle as being inextricably linked. Many of our project programmes encompass routes to healthy lifestyles. Walking for Health has been a cornerstone of Groundwork's efforts in promoting a healthier lifestyle. The concept has been dramatically successful and Groundwork is now pleased to be adding variety to the programme by developing NEW FREE LOCAL HEALTH WALKS in partnership with Derbyshire County NHS Primary care Trust. If you can answer "YES" to any of the following questions then this new series of weekly walks is for you.
The walks are: LONG EATON - start Monday 11th August, 10:00am at ASDA car park by the cash machines and every Monday thereafter.
HEANOR - start Tuesday 12th August, 2:00pm outside the Visitors Centre, Shipley Park and every Tuesday thereafter.
BELPER - start Wednesday 13th August, 10:00am outside Belper Clinic, Babington Hospital and every Wednesday thereafter.
All walks are risk assessed to ensure they will suit people of all ability levels, are flat circular and do not involve stiles. They are led by trained walk leaders at a pace to suit everyone. There is really no excuse for not getting that extra exercise and potential benefits so what do you need to do now? Just turn up at the venue as detailed above, wear sturdy footwear, bring waterproofs (just in case) and enjoy yourself. Oh, also remember its FREE.
