Community AllotmentsCommunity Allotments.
We link with community groups to promote the health benefits of growing your own. This combines the benefits of exercise and diet with the social benefits gained from working together in a sociable and relaxed setting.

School's AllotmentsFood Growing with Schools.
We support the work of schools in promoting health and well-being. A key element within this is to involve children in growing food. We have found that children are more receptive to eating healthily when they have grown their own produce.
By exploring where food comes from through practical activity, children are given the opportunity to connect with nature.

Grow Great Grub.
Grow Great Grub learners recently received their 'Highly Commended' award from The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE). The national award recognised their excellent group working and mutual support:
a) to add real value to their vegetable growing course
b) and make vegetable growing and eating a real and positive part of family life.
The presentation was made at the Walkers football stadium in Leicester.

Food Events.
The aim of interactive food tasting events is to invite people to explore their taste buds and increase their awareness of the positive benefits of eating more fruit and veg!

Within schools, fruit and salad tasting activities are delivered to increase the children's willingness to try new foods. again we have often found that when children are involved in preparing their own food they are likely to choose to eat more healthily.

Since January 2003 more than two thousand children have benefited from fruit and vegetable tasting activities as well as other food cooking events.

Community FoodCommunity Food Schemes
Where access to good quality fresh produce is poor we work with local suppliers and partners to support community food schemes. Existing schemes are as varied as the communities that they serve and are supported by volunteers and members of these communities.
