environmental policy document

Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire (GDD) is part of the Groundwork Federation of charitable Trusts, working with its partners to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and the sustainability of local businesses. By developing, implementing and maintaining and Environmental Management System (EMS) to Phase 3 of BS8555 the Trust is committed to prevent pollution during its activities and to comply with all applicable legislation and regulations and other requirements.

As part of its implementation of EMS , GDD has developed four main Objectives, which reflect its most significant environmental aspects. The Trust has set itself the following Targets for March 2008:

  • To put a control in place to prevent land and water from being contaminated by our activities and provide appropriate training to staff.
  • To put a procedure in place to ensure office and projects waste are collected by according to the legal requirements.
  • To reduce CO 2 emissions, generated by Trust's transport activities, by 5%.
  • To put a control in place to ensure compliance with legislation related to habitats and biodiversity.

This policy is subject to annual review to ensure completion of the Objectives and Targets, and to promote continual improvements throughout the Trust's operations.

GDD's Environmental Policy has the support of the Trust's Board, staff and volunteers. It is communicated to all members of staff, interested stakeholders and contractors, and is publicly available. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing this Policy and communicating it.
