In 2005, the Environment Agency reported that, with little or no capital investment, the UK industry could save up to:

  • £2-3 billion every year with waste minimisation.
  • £1.4 billion every year through energy efficiency.

A wide range of solutions exist to achieve these savings. Recent studies indicate for example that 93% of production materials are not used in final products, or that a typical skip contains 45% of air. Other studies reveal for instance that UK industry wastes on average as much as 20% of its energy use.

THE PROGRAMME:

For one year, we offer free support to businesses, which includes the following elements:
  • Site visits will identify where savings on waste and resources can be made;
  • 7 half day club meetings will give the chance to the participating companies to understand the true cost of waste and energy to their businesses; to develop common solutions; and to benefit from expert speakers;
  • Data collection will give meaningful indicators to the business participants about the efficiency of their businesses, and will enable them to keep control over their cost of waste and resources,
  • A competition will reward the company which has achieved the best improvement with their efficiency.
