4 REASONS TO PARTICIPATE ...
Minimise risks of incidents and their severity
- The rates for both fatal & major injuries and 3-day injuries are significantly higher in the East Midlands than in the rest of Great Britain.
Avoid prosecutions and fines
- In 2004, the Environment Agency revealed that the average fine per environmental prosecution in the UK is over £8,500.
- The HSE reported that the average fine per health & safety conviction in the East Midlands has increased by over £1,200 in 1 year to reach £7,020 in 2003-04.
Cost savings
- A better management of the environment and H&S could help your company reduce its insurance premiums. It is nowadays recognised that insurers are more favourable to insure businesses with good environmental and H&S records and low risks.
- The reduction of environmental and H&S incidents will enable your business to reduce the loss of time at work.
- A better understanding of your environmental liabilities will help your company identify savings by reducing the use of energy and the generation of waste.
Enhance your company’s image
- Good environmental and H&S standards are increasingly key criteria for small companies in order to attract and secure new customers.
THE PROGRAMME: For one year, the programme offers free support to businesses, which includes the following elements:
- An on-site assessment visit of the companies will be conducted by an approved and experienced assessor;
- An assessment report will summarise the H&S and environmental compliance issues of the firms;
- Seven half-day meetings will provide guidance to the engaged businesses to move towards better compliance and networking opportunities;
- A recognition award system will reward the companies against a set of environmental and H&S standards.
